Hello From Mrs. Barton!

HI!

I miss everyone!!!

I’ve been researching sites that are creating educational content to help create some in- home “boosters”.

At school we have art, computers, library and PE. The students really look forward to “boosters” at school to add additional learning besides our main reading and math curriculum.

Since the zoo has closed and you can’t go visit Hogle Zoo and enjoy the animals, the animals are going to come to you. I’ve sent the link so your student can learn about a different animal each day at 11:30 am.  https://www.facebook.com/HogleZoo/ These segments are 30 minutes long. I learned how interesting these are from someone who watches it from Minnesota.

Next, at noon each day this week, CBS and Steve Hartman will have a 30 minute

Facebook Live ” Kindness 101” show. He came up with the idea as he was staying home with his three children and  wanted to reach out to help parents and share kindness episodes that are helpful during stressful times.  Over many years he has produced uplifting “On The Road” segments and he has picked stories from all over the country that kids (and adults) will enjoy. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/steve-hartmans-kindness-101-online-class-on-the-road/

One other resource “ArtforKidsHub” on YouTube. The teacher has a student drawing next to him and the students draws and follows along with the teacher. The teacher is so positive and keeps emphasizing it’s Ok if they don’t look the same. You can pause if your student needs more time. They can learn to draw easy animals and many other things.

Remember how important it is to practice with Core5 Monday through Friday.

The teachers are working hard learning new technology and preparing so we can better support all the wonderful students.

Hugs from a distance.

Mrs. Barton
